Panels or bars provide the protective and cushioned interface area between the horse and your saddle. They serve to protect the horse's spine and offer shock absorption for the rider.
Internal panels, which are our original panel system, are +/- 1" thick material which has been beveled for ergonomics - based on your order specifications. These panels are somewhat free floating within a pocket on the underside of our saddles. This allowance of movement ensures that the panels will move away from pressure exerted from the horse's lateral spine motions.
Internal panels take care of the fine adjustments for your way of riding or your horse's ergonomic needs.
Ensure that internal panels are checked often for symmetry and position.
External panels put the responsibility onto you in order to judge correct placement and spacing of the padded bars (or panels) between the saddle and your horse. These panels give a more rigid and substantial feel to the saddle through a process of lamination. External panels have the same material and thickness of material in them as the internal panels have.
